Google Announces 5 Changes Coming To Mobile Search
Google has announced five changes to mobile search coming soon. Here's it
At the Google Search On conference today, the company announced five major changes to the way people search on mobile.
Starting today in the Google app for iOS, you'll see shortcuts to various actions you can perform in addition to typing in a traditional search query.
In the coming months, Google will upgrade its mobile search bar with features that will help users find more relevant results.
How Google displays results on mobile is changing, becoming clearer and with more emphasis on images and video.
More information about updates today and in the near future here.
1. Google search shortcuts
There are many ways to search Google other than typing a text query.
You can search for products by uploading screenshots, translate text using Google Lens, or even search for songs by microphone buzz.
Now, in the Google app for iOS, all the advanced ways to search Google will become more visible with clickable shortcuts.
2. Results in the search bar
Google makes it easier to find things in mobile search by displaying links to results in the search bar.
When you start typing, Google will start publishing the results before you submit your query.
3. Better query optimization
Google makes it easier to find the most relevant results by displaying a taxonomy to refine the query.
When you type a query into the mobile search bar, Google will give you ideas to make your query more specific.
4. Google Web Stories
Google is making mobile search more straightforward with deeper integration of Google Web Stories.
Google said in an announcement:
“As a result, we facilitate topic identification by emphasizing the most significant and useful material, incorporating content from open web suppliers. For topics like cities, you can watch visual stories and short videos from people who have visited them. What's up, ways to explore The city, things to do, how to get there and other important aspects you want to know while planning your trip.
5. Combine text, images and video
Google is turning mobile search results pages into an endless feed of discoveries.
Now you don't have to switch between the Web, Photos, and Video tabs, because Google will display them all on the first page.
Google describes this combination of text, images, and video on a single page as a “reimagining” of the way search results are delivered:
“In order to better reflect how people discover things, we are also changing the way we present the results. You'll see the most relevant content from a variety of sources, regardless of location. Whether the information is presented in text, image, or video format."
Additionally, you will have the option to continue scrolling to explore related questions.
